Without proper Yatra Registration, entry isn’t allowed. To handle large groups, the rule came from Uttarakhand officials.

Step 2. Start by making a profile then pick either the Char Dham or Kedarnath journey option.

Step 3. Start by typing in your information along with the days you plan to travel.

Step 4. Grab the QR code or yatra pass straight to your device. A quick save gives access whenever needed nearby.

Note: You may also need to present a valid ID proof (Aadhar Card) at the Sonprayag verification point.

How to Reach Gaurikund (Starting Point)

The most common route is:

Your City → Haridwar/Rishikesh → Shared bus/taxi → Sonprayag → Local taxi → Gaurikund

Important: Private vehicles are not allowed beyond Sonprayag from there take the local Taxi to Gaurikund Railway Stations Nearest Rishikesh Haridwar Nearest airport :- Jolly Grant Airport Dehradun about 25 kilometers from Rishikesh

Trek Route Gaurikund to Kedarnath.

The Kedarnath trek distance is approximately 16-18 kilometres one way, starting from Gaurikund. The trail gradually ascends through forests, river crossings and mountain paths, following the Mandakini River for a large part of the route.

Key stops along the route:

1. Gaurikund to Jungle Chatti (4 km): The trek begins. Cross the bridge over the Mandakini river. 2. Jungle Chatti to Bheembali (3 km): A steady climb. 3. Bheembali to Lincholi (4 km): This is the steepest and toughest section. Take frequent breaks. 4.Lincholi to Base Camp (4 km): The view opens up, and the gradient becomes gentler. 5. Base Camp to Temple (1 km): A flat walk to the temple complex.
On average it takes 6 to 8 hours to complete the uphill trek to Kedarnath, depending on weather conditions, crowd levels and individual fitness.

What To Pack Complete Checklist

Clothing:

✅ Warm thermal innerwear (upper and lower) ✅ Fleece jacket and heavy outer jacket ✅ Woollen cap, gloves and muffler ✅ Rain poncho or light raincoat ✅ 2-3 pairs of woollen socks ✅ High-grip trekking shoes (broken in before the trek!)

Accommodation & Facilities

Don’t expect luxury at the top. The focus here is on survival and spirituality. GMVN Guest Houses: Reliable and affordable, but they get booked months in advance. Tents/Camps: Private operators set up tents near the temple. They are basic (mattress + sleeping bag). Helicopter Services: If you cannot trek, you can book a helicopter from Guptkashi, Phata, or Sersi. Book only via the IRCTC HeliYatra website to avoid scams.

Important Tips And Warnings.

✅ Start early — leave Gaurikund by 5-6 AM to avoid afternoon clouds and crowds ✅ Stay hydrated — drink water every 30 minutes even if not thirsty ✅ Walk slowly — this is not a race, pace yourself from the beginning ✅ Carry cash — mobile network connectivity is low in Kedarnath meaning there is low to zero
internet speed and also no ATMs. ✅ Acclimatise — spend one night at Guptkashi or Sonprayag before trekking ⚠️ Night trekking is NOT allowed ⚠️ Avoid monsoon months (July-August) completely ⚠️ People with heart conditions or severe asthma should consult a doctor before attempting this trek
